The same shotgun was shown in Thomas Gilbert's Facebook profile photo, according to court records.
His account, under the name JoJo Blood Black Money, helped investigators narrow down Gilbert as the culprit, according to court documents.
Two days before the robbery, investigators said they found a message between Gilbert, who was under electronic monitoring with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, and a friend.
Gilbert told her, “Well, Monday this leg (expletive) coming off my leg so me in my (expletive) going down to South Carolina to get this money.”
Gilbert was arrested hours after the robbery during a traffic stop, driving a stolen SUV.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Gilbert cut off the monitor but officers didn’t know about the robbery.
It wasn’t until June that investigators got recorded jail cell calls.
Records showed Gilbert told someone, “Come get me now before they find out what really happened. They going to hit with the feds then, they ain't hit me with the feds yet, so come on.”
Gilbert was charged and indicted on federal gun and robbery charges.
He's behind bars in connection to the robbery in that mask.
