CHARLOTTE — Before she was fired, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill was nominated for North Carolina Superintendent of the Year.
The winner is chosen by the North Carolina Association of School Administrators and the association’s core affiliate, the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association, with sponsorship and support from Burroughs Welcome Fund.

The award is given to a superintendent “who exhibits outstanding leadership in service to K-12 public schools.”
The CMS Board of Education voted to terminate Dr. Hill on Tuesday.
