Driver, passenger dead after crash in west Charlotte, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver and passenger are dead after a crash in west Charlotte Saturday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

Officers responded to the single-vehicle wreck just after 3 a.m. on West Boulevard near Donald Ross Road.

According to police, a car was traveling east and speeding before it went into a curve and began to slide sideways. The car then struck a curb and multiple trees in the wood line before coming to a stop.

The driver was identified as 56-year-old Chevelle Jeter, and the passenger was 40-year-old Antonio Bryant.

Investigators said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
