CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Duke Energy is now trying to discontinue a program that the community has been paying for every month.
The Save-A-Watt program charged customers about a dollar a month.
It paid for energy efficiency programs to help customers cut the amount of power they use, but on Tuesday night, Duke met with North Carolina's utilities commission over an agreement it made with environmental groups discontinuing Save-A-Watt and instead creating a bonus system if the company cuts power.
It has not been released yet how much that will cost customers.
