STATESVILLE, N.C. — Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire to damage a Statesville home overnight.
Channel 9 crews watched as flames came from the roof of the home on Rita Avenue, east of Statesville, near Highway 70, just after 4 a.m.
Firefighters said the left side of the home was destroyed but that nobody was home when the fire started.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
