CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As events ramp up for the summer across Charlotte, first responders and event organizers have prepared for hot and muggy days.

With Taste of Charlotte in town this weekend, along with the Charlotte Knights’ baseball game, emergency personnel are walking about, ready to respond.

The heat didn't stop hundreds of people from filling the streets of uptown Charlotte on Saturday.

The afternoon temperature was in the upper 80s, but with humidity, it felt like we were in the mid-90s.

First responders said they didn’t have any heat-related calls Saturday afternoon, but they are preparing to respond for this summer's high temperatures.

The temperature ramped up to near 90 degrees as people walked the Taste of Charlotte in uptown Saturday afternoon.

With the humidity, the temperature felt like was well into the mid-90s.

"Compared to Seattle's weather, where I’m from, it’s, a breath of fresh air,” said Paul Sears, who attended Taste of Charlotte.

Still, the heat is not stopping the patrons from enjoying the food, music and atmosphere at the annual Charlotte event.

"Every year I look forward to this event and it's great,” said Taste of Charlotte visitor Kenya Hayles.

People protected themselves from the sun with hats, sunscreen and lots of water.

Medic has a mobile station on Fourth Street for anyone needing first aid for the three-day event.

There are also first responders with backpacks walking around the festival, keeping an eye on everyone and preparing to respond quickly if needed.
