Hundreds with Tribute to Troops rode through Shelter Crove Road in a Mooresville neighborhood Sunday and visited the family of a man who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Family members said they appreciate all the love and support they received Sunday.

U.S. Air National Guard pilot Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal died seven years ago when his plane crashed while fighting a fire in South Dakota.

“It has just been amazing,” his mother, Connie Mikeal, said. “I am just overwhelmed with the love and support these families have given us.”
