Officials told Channel 9 that just before midnight, a tree limb fell onto a 13,000-volt line on Morgan Mill Road, near Monroe, knocking it to the ground. It arced for about an hour before setting off a gas line fire.

One lane of Morgan Mill Road was blocked between Rollins Boulevard and Lanier Lane, and Duke Energy was able to fully restore the power by 5:30 a.m.

Crews had to cut the gas off before they could start repairs to the line.
