CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Diontray Adams’ expression didn’t change as prosecutor Kevin Minton read through new details of the murder of Uber driver Marlo Medina-Chevez in May of 2017.
Minton said Adams and his friend, James Stevens, intended to rob Medina-Chevez in his Uber that night.

When Adams pulled a BB gun, Medina-Chevez fought back.
The Uber driver reached back and grabbed the BB gun and a struggle ensued.
Adams allegedly pulled the Uber driver into the back seat and slashed his neck with a utility knife.
More than a dozen of Medina-Chevez’s family and friends were in the courtroom Thursday and listened to the details for the first time.

“It’s overwhelming,” Medina-Chevez’s daughter Deborah Medina-Chevez said.

She didn’t want to know some of what happened that night.
“Just hearing the details -- 'cause it’s really hard to hear everything that happened,” Deborah Medina-Chevez said.

Marlo Medina-Chevez’s widow, Elsa Medina-Chevez, said she is glad Adams will not get out of jail on bond.

Adams’ attorney said in the last few months a possible witness has surfaced who said Adams was with him when the murder happened.
Therefore, Adams could not have committed the murder, according to his attorney.
