CONCORD, N.C.,None — A local family has lingering questions two weeks after a man killed his wife then himself at a Lowe's in Cabarrus County.
"It's been a living nightmare," Nou Lee-Welsh said.
She said all she can think about is the future of Por Ye Lor and Vivian Xiong's children, who are now left without their parents.
She said the youngest, a 2-year-old son, doesn't even understand.
"If he wants his mommy or daddy, they're never going to be there for him," she said.
Just over two weeks ago, Lee-Welsh's cousin, 31-year-old Por Ye Lor, walked into a Lowe's in Concord.
With customers and other employees inside, he shot Xiong, who worked there as a cashier. Then he killed himself.
Lee-Welsh said there were never any warning signs.
"No one knew all of this was happening within their marriage," she said. "It was a shock to everyone to find out that this had happened."
Lee-Welsh said Lor was funny and that Xiong was devoted to her family.
"She loved her children," she said. "She loved her husband."
Dozens of relatives flew in for the couple's funerals this weekend.
Lee-Welsh said they still want to know why this happened, but right now, she said their focus is on the children.
They are putting together a fund to try to support them and are hoping the community will help as well.
"It's been very hard financially, emotionally and physically," she said.
The fund is open at Suntrust Bank under the Por Lor and Zoua Xiong account name.
