CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the first time in Charlotte, Lone Star Rodeo is a family-friendly show that will feature livestock, two-time rodeo clown and barrel man Mighty Mike Wentworth, specialty act Fancy Trick and Roman rider Jessica Blair.
The rodeo will also feature Southern Rodeo Association-sanctioned competitions in bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping and more.
The Lone Star Rodeo Company began in Marfa, Texas, 64 years ago and now operates in Crofton, Ky., on a 660-acre family-run ranch. The family tradition of top-notch stock and competition, pageantry and family entertainment has been carried on for the past 35 years by Preston Fowlkes Jr.
The rodeo will be 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 at Bojangles' Coliseum, 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Kids ages 10 and under can participate in the Kids Gold Rush and the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl contests.
Tickets are available for purchase at ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000 or at the Bojangles' Coliseum Box Office. Tickets are $25, $20, $15 and $10 (children ages 2 to 10), plus applicable taxes and service fees.
