A grand jury indicted 83 people last week for their involvement in the Nine Trey Gangsters sect of the UBN gang. The arrests warrants were carried by more than 600 federal, state and local law enforcement officers in Charlotte, Cleveland County and eastern North Carolina. Arrests were also made in Florida, South Carolina, New York and Virginia, officials said.

Some members were wanted on robbery and murder charges, but police said the gang is still recruiting, targeting children as young as middle schoolers.
The indictment detailed gang meetings in Charlotte, Shelby and within prisons in New York, where the UBN -- the East Coast version of the Bloods -- first formed.
