IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Invasive fire ants have taken over most of North Carolina, according to reports from the Statesville Record and Landmark.

The Department of Agriculture just expanded the quarantine zone for imported fire ants to include Iredell County.
That means people and business owners in at least 81 counties must get a permit before moving plants, sod, and equipment into or through non-infested areas.
