Firefighters battle south Charlotte flames in early morning hours

CHARLOTTE — A fire broke out early this morning on Cutchin Drive in Charlotte, causing an estimated $355,000 in property and content loss.

Charlotte Fire Department crews responded to the blaze at 1:55 AM, quickly bringing it under control by 2:39 AM.

Firefighters from Engine 16 arrived first on the scene to find flames coming from the roof of a home on the 3000 block of Cutchin Drive. Battalion 5 assumed command as crews launched an aggressive attack on the fire.

The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force determined the fire was accidental, originating in the attic. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.

A primary and secondary search of the home confirmed that no one was inside needing rescue at the time of the fire.

Engine 19’s crew provided GoPro footage from the scene, offering a rare inside look at the conditions firefighters face in the line of duty.
