In the sixth annual 9/11 memorial stair climb, firefighters went up 110 floors, the number equal to the height of each World Trade Center tower, in their equipment that weighs about 60 pounds.
Firefighters paid tribute to 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement personnel and 10 EMS personnel killed during the 9/11 attacks as well as the fallen Pineville firefighter Richard Sheltra.
Sheltra died in April while trying to put out a fire at a shopping center on Highway 51.
Autopsy results showed he likely died from poor air supply in his equipment.
