CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Arson investigators were called to the scene of a fire that destroyed a family’s home overnight in Charlotte’s Villa Heights neighborhood.
Firefighters were called around 1:15 a.m. to the house on Yadkin Avenue, off North Davidson Street.

Fire crews told Channel 9 flames were coming out of the front door when they arrived.
Investigators have not yet determined how the fire started but did say it was intentionally set, causing nearly $100,000 in damage.
Rachel Carter wants to know why someone would burn down her brother’s house.
"He has been here for 30 years -- 30 years,” Carter said. “So, Why? Why would you do this?”
The two people inside made it out safely. Channel 9's Tina Terry said there is now a sign in front of the property saying it is unsafe to step onto and no one can live inside there anymore.
Neighbors said they are shocked, but thankful no one was hurt.
"What's scary is I had no idea this happened until I walked out to grab gas cans," neighbor Jesse Munoz said.
"Grateful that no one was in it," resident Mary Grady said. "It was contained and people in house next door were not affected by the fire."
Officials said most of the homes on Yadkin Avenue have been renovated, but this house was one of the few that had not been.
No arrests have been made.
