MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — A fire ripped through a Mount Holly home Saturday, displacing a family.
Firefighters said they responded to Hickory Grove Road just before noon and found heavy flames and smoke in the kitchen.
Officials had to call in more firefighters to get the fire under control.
“Called in more people, more water,“ said East Gaston Fire Department Assistant Chief Billy Lee. “After about an hour we were able to knock it down get in and put the fire out.”
Officials said no one was hurt but the home was a total loss.
Investigators ruled it an accident but are still looking for a cause.
