CHARLOTTE — Food Lion is set to open its 29th location in southeast Charlotte where one grocer shut down just six months ago.
The Salisbury-based grocery chain will open its doors at 5706 Wyalong Drive on Oct. 7 in the former Harris Teeter location, The Charlotte Observer reported.
The Harris Teeter store shut down in April.
The Observer reports Food Lion ranks as the third-largest grocer in the area, trailing behind Walmart and Harris Teeter in Charlotte’s record-setting $10.8 billion grocery market.
The new store is set to feature an updated design, new prepared meal options, and an expanded selection of organic, gluten-free and plant-based items.
A grand opening celebration is planned for 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Mintworth Commons shopping center.
