CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One of Wachovia’s most well-respected executives has died.
John Medlin Jr. was 78 years old.
Medlin served as CEO for 17 years until 1994. During his time, Medlin turned the Winston-Salem community bank into a banking powerhouse in the Southeast.
Wells Fargo’s regional president in the Carolinas called Medlin a legendary banker and an icon in the business community.
