Yellow caution tape still surrounds part of an apartment complex in Fort Mill that was ripped apart by fire that started Monday night, forcing 20 people out of their homes.

Four fire departments helped put out the fire that started in the kitchen of an upstairs apartment, but they’re still working to determine the cause, and may not have an answer until late this week.

some of the residents said they don’t know where they’ll live now.

"I don't know. I don't know. Many right now, we are in Days Inn," Doug Smith said. "I paid for two nights. I need to figure what's gone happen when we get done with this."

The American Red Cross helped provide clothing and temporary housing for those in need.
