Free pharmacy event in Lincoln County offers over-the-counter medicine

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — NC MedAssist is hosting a Mobile Free Pharmacy event today in Lincoln County, offering free over-the-counter medicine to individuals in need.

The event takes place Friday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Schools Board of Education, located at 201 Jeb Seagle Drive in Lincolnton.

Sponsored by Atrium Health, the event is free and open to the public. In addition to distributing over-the-counter supplies, organizers are using the event to identify and enroll eligible residents into long-term prescription assistance programs.

Participants can select from over-the-counter items including pain relievers, cold and cough medicine, antihistamines, digestive aids, vitamins and children’s medicines. All items are subject to availability and individuals must be at least 18 years old to receive medicine.

The mobile event requires no identification, proof of residency, income eligibility or registration.

The event also offers enrollment in NC MedAssist’s Free Pharmacy Program. Uninsured North Carolina residents who fall at or below 300% of the poverty level can enroll in the program to receive prescription medications at no cost.

The event runs until 2 p.m. today at 201 Jeb Seagle Drive in Lincolnton. More information and pre-order forms for the Mobile Free Pharmacy are available at medassist.org/mobile-free-pharmacy.
