NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. — A New Hanover County man owes his life not only to his daughter but a fridge magnet.

It was a normal day at home for Isabella Keksc and her father, when she suddenly noticed he began stumbling. She and her siblings went over to her dad and had him lie down, while Keksc asked him to try to speak and lift his arms, according to ABC affiliate WWAY-TV.

Keksc said she knew the signs of a stroke from a magnet on her family’s fridge.

“I have this magnet and it’s been on my fridge for a while. Whenever I’m in the kitchen, like I’m eating, I just read it over and over again for some reason. I don’t know why I just did that,” Keksc said.

Thanks to Keksc and her siblings, their father is recovering in the hospital.
