CHARLOTTE — Two fuel companies are accused of conspiring to sell contaminated gasoline across more than 100 gas stations in North Carolina.
According to the Hickory Record, the alleged scheme has been going on for at least a decade.
Quality Oil and Reliable Tank Line LLC call the claims meritless. Both companies are named in the federal lawsuit.
Two men in Caldwell and Burke Counties claim the companies pumped out contaminated gas from stations and stored it in tanker trailers where employees were then directed to use it to top off fuel deliveries to at least 130 fuel stations.
The companies want the lawsuit dismissed, claiming their fuel delivery and sales practices comply with North Carolina law.
