CHARLOTTE — A generator at Novant Presbyterian Hospital spilled an estimated 150 gallons of fuel into Little Sugar Creek in Elizabeth Tuesday morning, according to Charlotte Storm Water Services.

There have been no environmental impacts reported.

The spill impacted the creek down to Morehead Street, a spokesperson for Storm Water Services said.

Crews and Charlotte Fire are helping with containment, which will take a couple of days.

From Chopper 9 Skyzoom, Charlotte Fire crews could be adding booms to catch the fuel.

A spokesperson for Novant Health said the leak has been stopped, and said it happened during routine testing.

“Novant Health can confirm there was a diesel fuel leak during routine generator testing on Tuesday morning at Presbyterian Medical Center,” the spokesperson said. “The leak has been stopped and clean-up operations are underway in coordination with Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.”

No further information was released.
