BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Gardner-Webb University has eliminated 14 jobs in an effort to cut down on expenses, according to an announcement made Monday.
That’s 4% of staffing positions at the university.
The changes aim to address the more than $6.5 million needed to meet the university’s needs over the next two years.
According to the university’s Community FAQ’s webpage, classes will not be canceled as part of the changes. In fact, the university says it is making strides to pursue enrollment growth through new revenue opportunities.
Despite financial challenges, the university said it has no plans to close.
“Gardner-Webb has a storied history and a strong future. For more than 120 years, the University has adapted to changing circumstances while remaining committed to its mission and its students,” it said. “These decisions allow Gardner-Webb to meet today’s challenges head on, strengthen the University and continue building toward its next century of service and impact. ”
