CONCORD, N.C. — A busy road near Concord Mills Mall will be closed for hours Tuesday as crews work to fix a gas leak.

Officials shut down Derita Road between Thunder Road and Christenbury Parkway in Concord around 9:30 a.m. so that the Concord Fire Department could repair a ruptured gas line.

According to city officials, the road will be closed for about four hours.
Officials warned that there may be a strong smell of gas in the area while work is being done. Drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
