CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Gas prices are at the highest levels they have ever been for Presidents Day weekend at $3.65 a gallon in Charlotte.
On Monday, U.S. crude oil futures were at $105 a barrel, which is their highest level in nine months.
In the Charlotte area, gas prices are up about 5 cents in a week, and gas is roughly 20 cents more expensive than it was this time last month. On Monday, Eyewitness News found prices in the range of between $3.60 and $3.70.
There are a number of factors in the increase, and experts say drivers shouldn’t expect prices to start going down any time soon.
Economists say the spike is a result of instability in the Middle East and an increase in demand.
