Gastonia restaurant featured on ‘Restaurant: Impossible’

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia restaurant was highlighted on the Food Network Thursday.

Chef Robert Irvine selected Smith’s Soul Food Bistro on Chestnut Street for a makeover on his show “Restaurant: Impossible.”

Littlejohn said Irvine was drawn to her business because she gives to veterans and those experiencing homelessness.

Owner Cheryl Littlejohn said the chief’s crew made about $200,000 worth of changes.

She said her business employs young people who are overcoming obstacles. She said that Irvine has offered to pay their college tuition.
