Great Falls man dies in motorcycle crash after vehicle fails to yield

CATAWBA, N.C. — A 66-year-old Great Falls man died Monday afternoon in Catawba after a vehicle failed to yield and struck his motorcycle at South Anderson Road and Ashland Oaks Drive, the York County coroner said.

Nelson Riley Jr. was operating the motorcycle when another vehicle made a left turn into his path, causing the fatal collision.

The York County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash site and pronounced Riley dead at the scene.

The fatal crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the York County Coroner’s Office.

Pathology and toxicology results are pending as officials work to determine the details surrounding the collision.
