Halal Street Food opening restaurant at Camp North End

CHARLOTTE — Halal Street Food is opening its second Charlotte brick-and-mortar restaurant this summer at Camp North End.

The locally owned, fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant is slated to open a 1,500-square-foot space at 701 Keswick Ave., Suite 101, in July. Husband-and-wife duo Khuram and Damaris Bashir launched Halal Food Cart in 2016 at the corner of Trade and Tryon streets in uptown Charlotte, with a menu inspired by the family’s first restaurant in Michigan, Mi Barrio Halal Latin Grill.

After years of success operating their food cart and growing a loyal following in Charlotte, the family opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 4044 Connection Point Blvd. in January 2022.

The couple has tapped son Cristopher Collado, chief executive officer, to lead the local expansion at Camp North End.
