CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A robbery suspect is on the loose and another is in hospital, accused of firing shots at police in the parking lot of a west Charlotte shopping center.

Officials said two men attempted to rob the Cash America pawn shop Wednesday night on Wilkinson Boulevard at the Walmart shopping center.

Police were called to the pawn shop after someone in the store called for help. When officers showed up, one of the robbers opened fire.

Those who were nearby ducked for cover.

“In Charlotte, there's a lot that's been going on recently so definitely worried, but you know, just gotta keep your ears and eyes open and just be cautious,” said one witness.

One suspect got away while another, Bobby Hargrove, was arrested.
