Hornets execs, city staff tour Atlanta’s State Farm Arena ahead of Spectrum Center renovations

CHARLOTTE — Fred Whitfield couldn’t be any clearer about what he wants in the planned $215 million renovation of the Spectrum Center. He wants a version of Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.

And the Hornets president and vice chairman are getting some help to make his case.

“I love the building,” Whitfield told the Charlotte Business Journal. “I hope our building will look like that.”

The tour is part of the ramp-up to renovations that were approved last June by the Charlotte City Council.
