CHARLOTTE — Over 1,000 people were without power early Sunday in north Charlotte after a car crashed into a home.

It happened at a house near Moretz Avenue and Druid Hills Way just before 5 a.m. A Channel 9 crew could see a car in a home, having caused damage.

“I heard a loud bang and all the lights went out,” he said. “We stayed around to see if everything was alright, you know.”

The crash took out Duke Energy equipment and just over 1,700 people did not have power. Power was restored by 8 a.m.

A neighbor woke up to the shock as he was getting up for work.

MEDIC responded to the scene but said all patients refused treatment. We are working to learn the cause of the crash.
