I-77 South in Iredell County reopens after crash in express lanes

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A crash on Interstate 77 South on Friday afternoon left the highway blocked in Iredell County. It reopened around 1:40 p.m.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the crash, which was between Langtree Road and Griffith Street, around 1 p.m. Friday. The area is right near the county line.

Two vehicles appeared to be involved in a serious crash in the express lanes. A third, which appeared to be a transit van, was on its side on the shoulder of the interstate.

Several paramedics, firefighters, and state troopers were at the scene. Traffic was backed up for at least 5 miles behind the crash.

Channel 9 has reached out to find out how the crash happened.

Emergency officials said no one was hurt.
