CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Toll lane work has been slowing down cars on Interstate 77, but now it’s starting to affect motorists trying to leave uptown Charlotte at rush hour.
Work has started on Interstate 277 between Graham and Hamilton streets where the Brookshire Freeway feeds into I-77 north and southbound.
I-77 Mobility Partners have been cutting down trees and bushes paving the way for new lanes, a construction project that will last until the toll lanes open at the end of 2018.
The future ramp from I-277 into the toll lanes going north toward Mooresville will be on the left of the ramp into the non-toll lanes.
Motorists should expect delays and temporary lane closures at night.
