CHARLOTTE — Advocate Aurora Health’s proposed transaction with Atrium Health attained a significant win yesterday afternoon with a unanimous approval from an Illinois regulatory board.

Securing the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board’s approval “brings us one step closer to coming together with Atrium Health,” said Advocate Aurora spokesman Adam Mesirow.
“We look forward to closing, which we anticipate before the end of the year,” Mesirow said.
Advocate Aurora, which has co-headquarters in Milwaukee and suburban Chicago, and Charlotte-based Atrium Health announced in May they agreed to combine their business under a joint operating agreement.
The proposed agreement faces at least one more potential hurdle at the Federal Trade Commission, which is believed to be reviewing the proposal.
