CHARLOTTE — A 22-year-old man died after after side-swiping another vehicle and crashing into a power pole in Lincoln County early Sunday morning.
Troopers said it happened just before 2 a.m. on Campground Road, near Forney Hill Road.
They say William Rakestraw Beardslee IV was driving west on Campground Road when he crossed the centerline and hit another SUV on the road. Beardslee then drove off the left side of the roadway before colliding with a power pole.
Beardslee died at the scene. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
