The 12th District includes parts of west, north and east Charlotte and stretches into half of Cabarrus County.
Democrats carried the district in the 2022 election with President Joe Biden winning by 30% and Gov. Roy Cooper winning by 34%.

Incumbent Rep. Alma Adams, a Democrat, is seeking another term in the district that was redrawn after the most recent census.
Republican Tyler Lee, a small business owner making his first run for office, will be opposite Adams on the ballot.
Lee told the Political Beat’s Joe Bruno he is running to represent people like him.
“I felt like politicians were not representing us on both sides of the aisle. And I liquidated everything. I was a businessman for a decade. And I left it all behind to become a public servant,” Lee said.

Adams said she is seeking reelection because there is work still to be done.
“We’ve got some things we didn’t get finished,” she said. “And certainly, I think we did get a lot accomplished. Personally, you know, I’m convinced that we can get more done.”
