I-485 inner loop reopens after deadly tractor-trailer crash in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — A deadly crash closed three lanes of the Interstate 485 inner loop in south Charlotte on Tuesday morning, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The inner loop was closed briefly around 6:30 a.m. between South Boulevard and Interstate 77. By 6:45 a.m., one lane was opened, but the right three lanes remained closed. The NCDOT tweeted at about 9 a.m. that the inner loop had reopened.

The Charlotte Fire Department said the crash involved a tractor trailer. One person died in the crash, according to MEDIC.

In a tweet, CFD said to expect “significant” delays.
