ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Investigators have identified the victim who died Friday, May 25, in a house fire along Thomas St. in Albemarle as 72-year-old Beaulah Shannon, the fire marshal said.
The fire marshal said the cause of death was smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
Investigators said they narrowed down the potential cause of the fire to electrical items in the home, which have been sent to a forensic lab for further testing.
There were two smoke alarms found inside the home, but investigators couldn't determine if they were working at the time of the fire.
