IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Iredell County Sheriff's Office says they have identified one of the thieves that has been breaking into homes in the Brawley School Road area this holiday season and stealing jewelry.

A white female and a black man broke into two homes just miles apart from each other on Dec. 12, authorities said.

"It's just a little unnerving that people do this in the middle of the day,” neighbor John Cross said.

Outdoor surveillance cameras captured the faces of the pair deputies said could be responsible for the burglaries.

Investigators believe the thieves busted a lock on the kitchen window at a home on Brookridge Lane.

Community members are now thinking twice about their own security.

"We always did lock up, but now we make double sure,” Cross said.

Deputies said two people rummaged through drawers in each room of the house and got away with a jewelry box filled with items.

“I’ve been here since 1990 and never had any issues,” Cross said.

In addition to being surprised, some say they're also being more careful.

"We better be more diligent,” neighbor Susan Cross said.

An hour later, a home on Crystal Circle was broken into.

This time, the suspects pried open the basement door and stole a gun and several pieces of jewelry from inside.

"Hopefully they get them before it escalates,” John Cross said.

Deputies believe a blue two-door Saturn could be linked to the break-ins and on Friday announced that they have identified the woman involved as Victoria Kistler.

Investigators said she is in the Charlotte area and could be as far south as Pineville. Warrants have been obtained on Kistler for felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.

Community members said they're looking out for each other and anything that looks suspicious.

"If there's a strange car in the driveway that we don't recognize we make note of it,” Susan Cross said.

Deputies say no one was home during the break-ins.

Anyone with information on Kistler's whereabouts is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff's Office at 704-878-3100.

Authorities have not yet been able to identify the male suspect.
