KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Residents are upset with a plan to bring hundreds of homes to Kannapolis because some say traffic is already congested and worried about more people living in the area.

A resident said the development doesn't fit the character of the neighborhood.

"We think that it does not transition well with the community," Douglas Roy said.

A few miles away, families are concerned that the land could transform to the newest high school.

County leaders signed a letter of intent to buy more than 100 acres along the Kannapolis Parkway near Dogwood Boulevard for $5 million. Families said there are already several schools in the area.
