CHARLOTTE — This holiday season, our partners at KISS 95.1FM are hosting a 13-hour radiothon to help families touched by autism.
The “Secret Santa” radiothon is a partnership with the Autism Strong Foundation, a local organization that provides support to families with children and adults that have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Channel 9’s Miana Massey went to SouthPark Mall Thursday morning where volunteers turned part of the food court into a phone bank for donations.

The event started at 6 a.m. Several volunteers geared up to raise money for local families who need financial assistance, resources, and community support. Their goal is to raise $25,000.
One of the foundation’s co-founders, Becky Thomas, helped launch Autism Strong after her own son was diagnosed. She says she knew other families were facing some of the same challenges and wanted to help.
“Not only does it raise support financially, but also awareness,” Thomas said. “It’s amazing to connect with the community at this level.”
The radiothon runs until 7 p.m.
Listeners can donate online through the radio station website or at the phone bank, which will be in the food court of SouthPark Mall.
