LAKE NORMAN, N.C. — A local teacher was named the North Carolina Charter School Teacher of the Year.
Social studies teacher Brandon Brown had a surprise celebration Thursday at Lake Norman Charter School.
Brown said putting himself in students’ shoes helps to push them further in their studies.
“Try to remember what it’s like to be 16,” Brown said. “If you do that, it helps build that bridge between you as a teacher and the students.”
It is the second year in a row that a teacher from Lake Norman Charter School has won the award.
