LAKE NORMAN, N.C. — A contest to take the best photo of Lake Norman has an unexpected leader.
VisitLakeNorman.org is sponsoring its third annual photo contest, in which people are asked to submit pictures “that embody Lake Norman to you.”
The photo is of I-77 traffic with the caption “Crawling on molten lava to work would be better than I-77.”
Since the contest’s launch, Lake Norman residents have flooded the website with photos of Interstate 77 traffic.
Currently, a photo submitted by Amanda Mandy called “beautiful LKN” is in first place.
Other photos include “Puffy Clouds! Nope! Dust clouds on I-77” and “Highway to Hell #I77.”
Prizes will be awarded to the top three vote receivers. First prize is a $200 Visa gift card and Oakley sunglasses.
