BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A retaining wall has collapsed, causing a landslide near Hidden Hill Venue on Burkemont Road in Burke County.
The road remains passable, but officials said the roadway is threatened by the slide.
Additional rainfall through midnight could cause further movement and potentially push the slide into the roadway.

Officials warn that rainfall of a half-inch or more could significantly increase the risk.
If conditions worsen, Burkemont Road could become limited or impassable.
Burke County Emergency Management and the Fire Marshal’s Office are monitoring the situation with NCDOT and other agencies.
Residents who travel through the area are urged to use caution and watch for changing road conditions.
Officials said emergency response times could be delayed if the road becomes impassable.
