CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Testing is underway at a local nursing home after North Carolina decided every nursing home will undergo coronavirus testing.
Channel 9 has reported several nursing homes in the area have seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases, even outbreaks.

State health officials are working to stop the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes like the Citadel in Myers Park. Tuesday, a company that has been contracted with the state is testing every resident and every employee at the Citadel.

It is part of a pledge by the Department of Health and Human Services to do facility-wide testing at every state skilled nursing home through August. There are more than 400 in the state.
The Citadel in Myers Park is only the second nursing home in Mecklenburg County to undergo the testing.
