The National Council of Negro Women gave away free N95 masks Saturday afternoon to residents in west Charlotte.

The drive-up event was held on Kendall Drive at the West Charlotte Recreation Center.

Organizers said they were encouraged by the great turnout.

“That says that we are getting the message out and clear, and that people are listening,” Doris Reed, with the Charlotte section of the National Council of Negro Women, said. “People are hearing and they know the need. So, the good turnout means that we are helping our community and we want to continue to do it.”

Residents can learn more about the event in the video at the top of this page.
