CONCORD, N.C. — The Fourth of July is fast approaching, and fireworks stands are popping up around the Carolinas.
Channel 9 met with Concord police and fire departments to make sure what those vendors are selling is safe.
Our investigation last year found stands selling fireworks that looked like popular children’s toys, including a unicorn and a dragon.
Firefighters issued a warning to parents.

Even toymaker Hasbro cracked down and told the fireworks manufacturer to stop making them.
We met with inspectors again this year to make sure everyone's following the rules.
