CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Police are investigating claims a Charlotte middle school teacher assaulted a student.
Rosalyn Wright's 14-year-old daughter, Tyson, attends Ridge Road middle school in north Charlotte. Tyson said a teacher forcibly grabbed her on Friday, dragged and pushed her into the office.
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman said the student was "escorted."
On Monday, police interviewed the staff and other witnesses. Wright said she spoke to the teacher by phone on Friday.
"I said 'Did you put your hands on her?'" Wright said. "She said, 'Well, I nudged her.' And I said, 'Define the word nudge.' She didn't. She stayed quiet after that."
The teacher is not being named because no charges have been filed.
Police said a magistrate judge could make that decision on Tuesday.
